Duca degli Abruzzi, aka ”Luigi di Savoia Duca Degli Abruzzi” was the pinnacle of Italian light cruisers of the Condottieri-class and the most powerful of them. Differed from its predecessors by the more powerful armament, significantly improved armour, but slightly slower speed.

It was developed in response to the development of the British super dreadnought.

The first French battleship ever designed to equip quadruple-gun turrets. The purpose was to maximize the firepower within a limited space.
